Περίληψη

The ALTENER project “HOTRES” aimed at the systematic implementation of conditions for the future massive applications of RES (Renewable Energy Sources) in the Tourism Industry. Under the umbrella of the project five renewable energy technologies are promoted (solar thermal, solar passive, solar PV, biomass and geothermal energy) in parallel in three EU regions and two islands (East Attica, Alpes -Maritimes, Andalusia, Sicily and Madeira) by corresponding agencies and promotion centers (CRES, SFH, AMG, ADEME, SODEAN and AREAM) following an extensive and intensive work program with six elaboration phases. The purpose of this article is to present:1. the project HOTRES main activities (products and studies). 2. the market assessment of the Solar thermal Sector in Greece from 1985 to late 2001. 3. the economic evaluation of the solar thermal technology in the EU and morespecifically for the Greek Invest Environment. 4. the general and the specific technical conclusions of the project both for EU wide aswell as for the particular Greek Tourism Sector.
