Summary

In this paper, we show that optimal selection andtransmission of a single relay among a set of multiple amplifyand-forward(AF) candidates minimize the outage probability(i.e., outage-optimal) and outperform any other strategy thatinvolves simultaneous transmissions from more than one AF relayunder an aggregate power constraint. This outage optimalitydemonstrates that cooperation benefits are maximized withintelligent scheduling among AF relays.
