This section gives an overview of two main requirements of the new 'Seveso II Directive': the safety management systems and the safety report. It compares relevant legislative requirements in the USA, summarises the contents of the recent EC guidance on the preparation of the safety report to meet the requirements of the new Directive and refers to the main elements of a safety management system.
