Summary

In this paper a Petri Net (PN) based methodology for modelling, simulation, performance evaluation and production forecast of a tanning industry processing 5 leather types is presented. The Petri net models of the production procedures are built and simulated in order to calculate specific performance measures. Then exponential smoothing method is applied in order to forecast the overall demand of the upcoming year for each product type. Finally, a scenario concerning partial change of the equipment efficiency is tested and the results obtained are compared to the ones of the initial model.
