Summary

During the last decades, 3D Modeling techniques in Cultural Heritage are used to promote archaeological sites, monuments and artifacts worldwide. In this study we would like to present our research realized in Digital Media Lab, in the School of Architecture, Technical University of Crete. Nowadays the church of the Venetian Monastery of St. Francis, in Crete, Greece, houses the Archaeological Museum of Chania, but in the near future the collections of the museum will be transferred in a new contemporary building. The digital model of the monument was created using Structure from Motion techniques and the final model was uploaded in Sketchfab Platform. Using Oculus Rift and Vive HTC, future virtual tours can be performed, capturing the atmosphere of the space as it is organized today with the collections and offering an experience that will soon be lost.
