Summary

In our modern era, an efficient system of quality assurance is considered to be an essential element in order a product to be competitive and successful in the business world. Concerning quality control, industries often employ zero-defect sampling schemes with rectification, especially when manufacturing costs are very high. The aim of this dissertation was to design an economically optimal zero-defect sampling scheme with rectification when diagnosis errors are present. Design was based on a pre-existent algorithm which was implemented via MATLAB software. In this dissertation the problem of determining the optimum sample size m, as well as the parameters affecting it, are presented. An experimental run of the program is made in order to determine the optimum sample size considering a defined lot. Furthermore, experimental program analysis is conducted by manipulating program factors under controlled conditions in order to characterize and explain the effect of the manipulated factors on an aspect of the program. Particularly, alternative scenarios are examined as for the impact of diagnosis errors and costs of every type on the determination of the optimum sample size. Finally, every useful conclusion from the conducted dissertation is presented.
