Summary

The Technical University of Crete (TUC) over the years has developed a large number of Technologies in its laboratories but the extent of their transfer to and commercialization by society and industry in Greece or overseas is unknown. Furthermore, the factors that aid or impede Technology Transfer (TT) from TUC laboratories to society and industry have never been studied in sufficient detail to enable reliable conclusions to be made. The objectives of this study are therefore to obtain information on the various technologies developed in TUC laboratories their protection status, their Technology Readiness Level (TRL) and any activities and experiences towards commercialization, using questionnaires and interviews of TUC research staff, and using such information to estimate the general level of inventiveness and innovativeness of TUC laboratories in conjunction with their capabilities and funding. The results of the study will contribute towards the further development of an integrated Innovation Management policy at TUC, centered on the existing Innovation House of the University including a “One-Stop Innovation Service” for TUC staff.
