Summary

The present thesis focuses on the startup ecosystem in Greece which has been a great support in the economic recovery of the country against the multiannual economic crisis. The primary purpose of the thesis is to analyze the definition and unique characteristics of startup companies as well as the conditions under which these came to the fore of the Greek and the international market. The main purpose of the thesis is to discuss and analyze the process of turning an innovative idea into a successful startup. This objective is achieved through the development of a guide on designing effective strategic plans, implementing modern management practices, and securing the necessary financial resources for the sustainability of the company from various sources or support programs. An effectively designed strategic plan provides vital insight on the product or service that will be provided by the company, its potentials and weaknesses, discrimination between the company’s threats and opportunities, as well as the nature of its goals and how these may be reached. The modern management practices aim at the proper organization of the startup company and the management and coordination of its human resources, at ensuring the achievement of the maximum possible productivity and at the re-evaluation and gradual development of the company. Lastly, the thesis analyzes the role and the position of startups in Greece according to official statistics relating to the years of 2017-2021.
