Summary

Nowadays, the need for cooling and heating of a space are one of the main points of study and research for the engineers in order to create conditions of comfort in the space where a person lives and works. A basic condition for the heating or cooling of a space is the need for low energy consumption with reduced emissions according to the data that are part of the laws and the regulations of the European Union that aims at the direction of a technology friendly to the environment and the person. The purpose of this thesis will be the investigation and comparative study of housing cooling and heating systems. The heat pump and the condensing boiler are modern and environmentally friendly heating technologies with very high efficiencies which they are constantly evolving, so, it is interesting to analyze and to compare these two alternative systems. A historical review of these two systems will follow, while we will delve into the operation of the systems as well as the components that they consist. An analysis is made of their advantages and disadvantages as well as a brief report on their applications.
