Summary

The target of this dissertation is to understand how ESG indicators are formulated, to examine the importance for the companies to integrate the logic of the ESG, and how to use it in order to reduce their financial costs and as a result to improve their viability and their future growth.The evaluation of business viability indicators in parallel with the implementation of existing scientific methodology contributes to distinguish the parameters that play key role in behaviors and how the company through its policies could influence growth and lead in different results. The study focusses on the renewable energy sector, which is one of the most up-to-date sector due to the climate crisis. The aim is to investigate the effectiveness of existing ESG indicators to evaluate the sector’ s companies, presenting any weaknesses and proposing alternatives - parameters on which the indicators could be adjusted to provide reliable information to institutional investors for the particular investment.
