Over the years the demand for energy is constantly increasing. In particular, in the tourism sector, energy requirements vary and include both the operation of tourism infrastructure and transport to end from these destinations. However, the burden on the environment indicates the need to use Renewable Energy Sources (RES) in order to reduce the deterioration of the existing situation. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the feasibility of utilizing Renewable Energy Sources in tourist areas. In particular, the study aims to identify problems and opportunities to find appropriate alternatives, weighing their advantages and disadvantages. In more detail, there will be an overview of existing and ongoing research actions for the use of RES in individual tourist areas. In particular, the functional, economic and technical aspects of the utilization of RES will be studied with the aim of a sustainable tourism development. The results of the feasibility study are expected to lead to substantiated conclusions, which will determine whether the utilization of RES is advantageous and feasible to be implemented.
