Summary

It is a fact that the current energy crisis that is affecting the world economy is due to energy consumption which shows an increasing trend with unpleasant consequences for the environment and our planet in general. The energy challenge that the global community must face is on the one hand the saving of primary energy resources and on the other hand the protection of the environment, as it has now been realized, both by citizens and by governments, that the intended development is inextricably linked to the preservation of his balance. Given that the building sector is one of the largest consumers of primary energy and is responsible for a significant percentage of CO2 emissions in the atmosphere, the need for energy upgrading of buildings appears imperative.The aim of this master's thesis is to deal with the energy upgrading of building facilities, in which case it will basically be based on the preparation of an energy efficiency study of an existing building based on the Regulation on the Energy Performance of Buildings , with the aim of minimizing the possible of energy consumption through the building's thermal insulation adequacy - the choice of E/M systems and the use of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) technologies.The entire research will be based on actual measurements of an existing building of the General Staff of the Army, in the area of N. Attica, the description of which will be made with all the necessary architectural plans, age, construction method, energy zone, etc. in order to initially prepare the Energy Performance Certificate to determine the existing energy class and then by adopting linear programming methods through an optimization problem we will arrive at the solution that will lead to the selection of the minimum required combination of costed interventions that must be launched, in order to achieve the greatest possible energy upgrade of the building in question at the lowest possible cost (desired result).The optimal choice will emerge, setting an upper threshold that will concern the minimum allowable expenditure for the proposed interventions, using the software package of Matlab for the numerical solution of the optimization problem, providing at the same time its graphic imprint.
