Summary

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, teleworking is emerging as one of the most important changes worldwide, but mainly for Greece, where companies/organizations did not have a solid foundation in this area, but were called upon in a short period of time to listen to the needs and reshape the data. This study aims to investigate the influence of telecommuting on the psychology of employees and the problems and opportunities that have been created and continue to be created. Thus, a thorough bibliographic review of the domestic and global literature, the conceptual and theoretical approach of the terms and issues directly or indirectly related to teleworking, from the employees' point of view, was applied. Certainly, telecommuting is a way of balancing the work-life relationship and gives more autonomy to the employee. Also, the employee shows great commitment to the work environment, reduces travel and clothing costs, stress and time to and from work. There are, however, also various problems for the telecommuter, which prevent him from productive work, which should be further studied and addressed. The feeling of social and work isolation, the high cost of technological infrastructure and the difficulty of processing work or the loss of files and data due to technical problems, are some of them. In conclusion, telecommuting can provide satisfaction, both to the needs of employees and employers, with the right conditions and means. Many scholars and authors approach telecommuting from different perspectives, but with a common point of reference that telecommuting, with its disadvantages and advantages, is an innovation.
