Summary

In recent decades, the phenomenon of Ethical Harassment at the workplace has been of considerable concern to the field of human resource management. Moral Harassment, or mobbing, has many dimensions and affects each employee differently. It affects the everyday life of many people and most of the time it creates serious problems, not only in the psyche of the recipients but also in the companies and organizations and, by extension, in society. In this paper, a literature review was conducted through Greek and foreign-language scientific articles on the Internet and scientific textbooks, which included the definition of the phenomenon, the factors that contribute to its occurrence, the mechanisms through which it manifests itself, as well as the consequences for the employee, the company and society. Research was also carried out into Greek and international law on the institutional framework through laws, directives, regulations and non-binding interventions aimed at protecting workers' rights and ensuring a healthy working environment. For the internet research, the google and google scholar search engines were used and in relation to the chronological boundaries, articles from 1980 to the present were used. The research concluded that it is necessary for businesses and organisations, as well as governmental bodies, to take measures to prevent and tackle the phenomenon, taking into account the institutional framework and guided by the principles of equality and solidarity.
